Responsibilities

  • Lead business development for our US Project & Construction Management business across all states and cities, with an initial focus on eastern markets.
  • Originate new business opportunities from multiple sources to deliver new revenue assignments for our Project & Construction Management business, including:
  • Source leads and secure opportunities for management to present and win assignments.
  • Fill pipeline with quality opportunities in accordance with goals set by management.
  • Research lists of target sectors, markets, industries and clients for valuable projects and revenue generation for the US Project & Construction Management platform.
  • Develop new business primarily through heavy telephone prospecting, emails, social campaigns, in-person contacts, and networking through industry events.
  • Schedule meetings (in-person and virtual) for Avison Young senior management with prospects and attend as needed.
  • Report and update on calling program status, clients met, potential opportunities being generated, issues/concerns and next steps utilizing the Avison Young Client Relationship Management Platform.
  • Develop, maintain and grow contact database.
  • Lead Business Development Associates to generate new revenue and assignment opportunities:
  • Upon achieving initial revenue successes, grow and lead the business development platform across the US to originate new opportunities as described above
  • Oversee a small team and lead toward the creation of new opportunities through providing mentorship, leadership, direct supervision, coaching etc.
  • Work with our Marketing professionals and local management to prepare proposals and strategies for client and marketplace presentation.
  • Provide leadership for crafting winning proposals, opportunities, marketing materials and overall content to enhance Avison Young’s presence across US markets.
  • Collaborate with US, Americas and global leaders in the development of content and marketing materials.
  • Network across the industry and marketplace to showcase Avison Young and build relationships
  • Develop and maintain working relationships with industry professionals.
  • Join industry organizations in order to network and attain leads, join committees to represent AY within the industry.
  • Actively engage in networking and client relationship management skills to proactively identify business opportunities and establish relationships.
  • Demonstrate understanding of project management services.Be a collaborative team player who works with other department management as needed to assist in business development and marketing activities.
  • And other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

  • Minimum of a 4-year university degree in a relevant functional area including Bachelor of Commerce or MBA or similar, etc.
  • Experience - 5+ years of experience in management consulting, operations, managing several areas of work simultaneously. Experience managing people and teams.
  • Strong background in Strategy, Business Development and Implementation toward successful programs and growth.
  • Extensive local market and industry knowledge
  • Understanding of procurement processes within industry
  • Strong understanding of the deal lifecycle from prospecting to proposal, negotiation, and close
  • Excellent communication, presentation, and interpersonal skills with the ability to engage with C suite and senior stakeholders
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and CRM platforms (Salesforce preferred)
  • Highly organized, resourceful, and detail oriented with the ability to manage multiple pursuits simultaneously
  • Analytical mindset with the ability to interpret data and provide strategic recommendations
  • A collaborative and entrepreneurial spirit aligned with Avison Young’s people first culture

 

The base salary is aligned with market data and is estimated between $150,000 to $225,000 with the ability to achieve additional compensation through bonus.  This salary range reflects base compensation for the position across all US locations. Within this range, individual pay is determined by work location and other factors including relevant education/training, experience, and internal equity.
