Overview

The Regional Media Relations and Content Specialist is a part of the Global Marketing and Communications team, reporting to the Senior Manager of U.S. Media Relations and working closely with regional U.S. leadership to drive brand building initiatives on behalf of Avison Young in Florida, Metro DC, South Carolina, North Carolina, Nashville and Atlanta.

Responsibilities

  • Own, develop, and execute regional media relations strategies in alignment with overall national strategies, in partnership with U.S. Media Relations leader
  • Develop regional media plans in partnership/alignment with U.S. leader. Ensure collaboration among regional leadership, as well as marketing, content, and Market Intelligence teams
  • Own all regional media requests (proactive and reactive)
  • Draft, pitch and distribute news releases to local, regional media
  • Develop media content, including bylines, in partnership with marketing and content teams
  • Own strong, demonstrated relationships with regional top-tier, business and trade media
  • Responsible for media training of market leaders and subject matter experts
  • Coordinate distribution of key articles via internal channels and social media with global team
  • Evaluate media coverage and report monthly and quarterly
  • Protect, advance and defend the Avison Young brand regionally; understand and raise reputation risk issues; in partnership with the U.S. manager, provide strategic issues management counsel to regional leadership/business

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in communications, public relations, journalism or related field
  • 5+ years of relevant work experience in media relations, public relations (in-house or agency)
  • Commercial real estate experience preferred
  • Demonstrate strong writing ability and attention to detail
  • Be self-motivated and reliable, with an ability to work independently and collaboratively with cross-functional team members
  • Ability to prioritize, solve problems independently and work effective under pressure
  • Effective listening, writing and oral communication skills
  • Proficient in MS Office products (Word, Excel and PowerPoint) and media monitoring services such as Meltwater
